About Us

The School

        Westbury Christian School is a private school in southwest Houston serving around 500 students in grades K-3 to 12. We celebrate our Christian tradition, but welcome students from all backgrounds. Established in 1975, the School continues its 40-year commitment to excellence in academics, student activities, and spiritual development. To learn more, click Here.

The Program

       Started in 2012 by a group of high school students that wanted to apply their passion and knowledge in STEM in real life, The WCS CAT-aclysm Robotics program promotes students to develop valuable skills in hands-on work, computer programming, as well as teamwork and com-munication skills. WCS CATaclysm now includes a high school/ middle school VEX Robotics Compe-tition program and a middle school LEGO  EV3 program, both offered as science electives.

The Team

       The CATaclysm VRC team, #1815, has com-peted at local, state, national, and world level tournaments for six seasons. Four high school teams, Gemini, J.J. Bot, T, and Zeta, and three middle school teams, Alpha, Centurion, and Echo, will represent WCS in the latest VRC season, Turning Point. For details of the teams, click Here

The Game

       In this season’s competition, Turning Point,  Two Alliances, each consisted of two individual teams, compete against each other by toggling flags, flipping and scoring caps on poles, and by parking the robot on either the Alliance or the Center Platform, all within a 15-second autono-mous period and a one-minute-and-45-second driving period.

The Alliance

       The Texas VEX Alliance (TVA) is an union of Texan teams, including 1814, 590, 25567, 1814, 3674, 2019, and more, that work together to share strategies and ideas, solve difficult problems, as well as making the individual teams and the region overall more competitive at the world stage.

Community Outreach

     The CATaclysm program is proud and excited to share our passion for robotics and engineering with our community! Our robots have toured around the greater Houston area as we presented our program at the Mini Maker Faire and to lower school students on STEM Outreach Day.

       We have also been featured on CW49's Newsfix  and have been recognized by the Chevy Inside High School Sports Spotlight award.
